Laughter Club~June 22nd 6pm
Thursday, June 22nd
Laughter Clubs originated in India by Dr. Madan Kataria in 1995. He wanted to put the notion that ‘laughter is the best medicine’ to practice. He started with telling jokes to a group of 5 people. When he realized that not everybody shares the same sense of humor and when they ran out of jokes (after 3 weeks), he designed a routine of laughter exercises including yogic breathing and stretching techniques to make the benefits of laughter accessible to everyone. He started facilitating Laughter Clubs where you laugh “for no reason” other than to enjoy the health and wellness benefits of laughter. Now there are over 7200 Laughter Clubs facilitated in over 60 countries!
The health and wellness benefits of laughter are many:
Immune Function Stimulation
Mental Functioning Boost
Aids Pain Tolerance
Fosters Social and Emotional Connections
In a Laughter Club, we always aim to provide a safe environment. We always laugh with people, never at. And all laughter is voluntary. Participants are encouraged to laugh as much as they want and to feel safe. A basic premise is the idea to ‘fake it til you make it.’ We simulate laughter to stimulate genuine laughter.
